Your accommodation will be in the surf villa equipped with air conditioning, hot water, Wi-Fi, a fan, a minibar, a pool, and a tea/coffee maker. It is a five-minute walk to the main surf spot. Located 100 meters from Hikkaduwa’s main surf point, the surf villa offers quality accommodation not only for surfers but anyone who likes to be a part of the amazing beach life Hikkaduwa has to offer. The garden in front gives you an ideal atmosphere to relax.

The Sri Lanka Surf Tours team will pick you up at the airport to drop you off at the hotel in Hikkaduwa. You can spend 6 nights there, and they will serve you daily breakfast. The hotel is located just 100 meters from Wewala Beach, 200 meters to Narigama Beach, and 500 meters to Turtle Beach.

You start the surf lessons on the next day after your arrival. The main surf spot is just a walking distance from the hotel. A professional surf instructor will guide you and the camp will provide you with surfboards, leg rope, and a rash guard. There are 2 surf lessons for 5 days, each person (10 surf lessons per person).

After the surf lessons, you will have a day tour of the Tsunami Museum, tea factory, moonstone mine, turtle farm, lagoon, big Buddha, and spice garden. The team will provide all the entrance tickets and a boat to the lagoon. You can also taste authentic Sri Lankan rice and curry dinner.

Finally, on the last day, the team will drop you off at the airport and it will be a memorable tour for you for sure.

The package will give you a half-day tour of the lagoon, turtle farm, moonstone mine, Tsunami Museum, big Buddha, and spice garden.

Hikkaduwa

Hikkaduwa is the main surf destination and attracts surfers from Australia, the UK, Japan, the USA, and many more countries. There are up to four main surf points with clear, warm water in the Hikkaduwa area. Although most of them are reef breaks, none of them are risky. All spots have a deep bottom and flat reef.

The size of the waves range from two to seven feet during the season time. The main point is called the “main reef” which has an “A” frame-shaped wave that surfers can ride both the right-hander and the left-hander. One of the main reasons for Hikkaduwa’s popularity is due to the selection of budget and luxury accommodation.

Hikkaduwa was a fishing village 30 years ago and since the early 1980’s, it has become one of the major tourist attractions in Sri Lanka. Hikkaduwa is famous among tourists for its natural beauty, wide sandy beaches, marine reserves, crystal clear waters, and hot sun.

All of these make it a desired destination on the south coast of Sri Lanka. Tourists stream to Hikkaduwa mainly for the range of water sports like surfing, scuba diving, kite surfing, and much more.

Nearby surf spots

Benny’s — Classic left-hander on a reef break south of Hikkaduwa town, good for more experienced surfers. When the main point goes over six feet, conditions are superb.

The Main Point (main reef) — The island’s most popular surf break with left & right-hander waves; reef-bottomed but safe due to depth. Height ranges from 2–10 feet on a good day. Located ~1.5 km from Hikkaduwa town.

Beach Break — ~100 m south of the main point; ideal for beginners; a mixture of reef that runs through sand bars.

The Rock — ~40 minutes south near Unawatuna; both left-handers and right-handers, though the lefts are often more popular; waves can reach up to eight feet.

Plantation Point — ~50 minutes south in Weligama; perfectly shaped waves with reef break and a lovely right-hander; ideal for beginners as well as the more experienced; up to six feet.

Mirissa — ~1 hour south; respectably sized wave with predominantly sandy bottom and scattered reef; up to five feet.

Polhena — ~1.5 hours south; two reef-bottom breaks (left and right); fast waves around six feet.
